99% Invisible: Podcast Review

October 15, 2020

An incredibly popular podcast and for good reason, 99% Invisible has been running since 2015. The series focuses on exploring the process and power of design and architecture in the world around us. Hosted by Roman Mars, every episode dives deep into a topic that is explored through the eyes of design. Topics that you may think sound unengaging on the surface, such as the design and architecture of children's library sections and the famous book, Goodnight Moon, somehow makes it an enticing and thought provoking discussion.

The podcast takes an investigative approach to every episode, through different voices and perspectives on the topic, Roman walks the listeners through the entire discussion from one guest to the next. The series is also highly produced and has amazing sound design that really pulls the listener into the series and keeps you engaged, from the sound of a page turning, doorbells ringing, phones being answered, it is clear that there is a lot of hard work that goes into this podcast.

99% Invisible educates you on topics that you didn’t even know you wanted to be educated on. I highly recommend checking out this series and going on a journey of uncovering the design and architecture around us.
