Casefile takes a narrative approach to true crime. Each episode features a different host that walks listeners through a crime. Sound effects and music is used throughout the episode to help the listener feel like they are a part of the story and connect with the characters.

The show focuses on portraying real life cases, specifically haunting stories to peak listeners who are interested in both the mystery and haunting aspects of true-crime. Each episode is about 1.5 hours long, however can range to up to two hours, making it great for a road trip. The host is engaging and keeps the listeners engaged by telling the story through a third person perspective.
