The Thing About Pam: Podcast Review

November 29, 2019

The Thing About Pam, while certainly entertaining as a true crime podcast, is made eons more powerful by the voice of Keith Morrison.

True crime as a genre is booming lately and it almost seems like podcast newsrooms are combing through death notices looking for juicy stories in order to create serialized shows based upon them. We have to keep in mind that these stories tell the tales of real peoples’ lives and death circumstances. Betsy Faria’s death was a tragedy, and this podcast did a sufficient job of illustrating that notion. However, as one may be able to surmise from the title of the podcast, The Thing About Pam, it is, in fact, mostly about Pam. In this sense, the podcast does something unique: focusing on the secondary suspect (the first was, of course, the husband, Russ) who ultimately turned out to be extremely fishy and involved with other illicit affairs.

It’s worth a listen to:

1. Hear the dulcet tones of Keith Morrison’s voice,

2. Discover the confusion that ensues when news of a potential same-sex affair hits small town Missouri, and

3. Get a sense of one of Dateline NBC’s first attempts in the true crime podcast space.
